Mary Vitoria QC was called to the Bar in 1975 and joined Chambers in 1978. She has degrees in Chemistry (B.Sc (First) and Ph.D.) and Law (LLB) from the University of London and was awarded the Council of Education, Lincoln's Inn and Buchanan Prizes in her year of call. She was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1997 and has recently been elected to the Bench of Lincoln's Inn (2004). Her practice covers all areas of intellectual property, and her clients range from multi-national corporations to sole traders and individuals. She has a particularly strong practice dealing with complex copyright and publishing cases.
Since qualifying as a mediator in 2002 Mary has conducted a large number of mediations and arbitrations. These are listed on her CV with feedback from the parties. She is a member of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center's List of Neutrals and Domain Name Dispute Resolution Panel. She has given a number of seminars on ADR.
Publications
Mary Vitoria, Q.C. has been the Editor of the Reports of Patent Cases and of the Fleet Street Reports since 1995. She is co-author of "The Modern Law of Copyright and Designs" (3rd ed., 2000). Other publications include "Patents and Registered Designs" and "Copyright and Design Right" in Halsbury's Laws of England.
