Members of 8 New Square, regularly advise clients on all aspects of the law relating to advertising, marketing and branding. We have always been at the forefront of litigation in this area, having acted in the leading trade mark infringement and passing off cases. In the last two years we have acted in cases concerning branding and marketing in a wide range of industries including perfumes and cosmetics, TV programmes and newspapers, gaming products, mobile networks and mobile phone supplies, construction, financial services and funeral services. Counterfeiting and unauthorised parallel imports

Members of Chambers have acted in wide range of cases concerning counterfeit goods. We have been instrumental in the creation of powerful litigation tactics such as the Anton Piller Order (now known as a search order) to track down and seize counterfeit products. We have been instructed by some of the largest brand names such as Microsoft, Coca-Cola and Taylor Made Golf and by various copyright protection organisations such as PPL, BPI and FACT to help in their fight against piracy.

We were also involved in the leading case in the European Court of Justice concerning unauthorised parallel imports, Levi Strauss v Tesco Stores and in many UK parallel import cases since then including Honda Motors v Neesam and Sony v Tesco Stores.
