Applications for Pupillage to 8 New Square

Chambers joined the OLPAS Scheme (Online Pupillage Application Scheme) from its inception in 2001. Applications for pupillage to these chambers should be made through the OLPAS scheme. Information regarding the scheme is available from the General Council of the Bar, via their website www.pupillage.com or by telephone 020 7242 0082.. The OLPAS timetable has both an Autumn and Summer recruitment season. 8 New Square operates the Summer timetable.

The OLPAS timetable for 2008 is as follows:

OLPAS opens on the 8th of March. Candidates may apply to up to 12 pupillage providers in each season.

• Applications for the Summer Season may be made from the 8th of March 08.
• The deadline for submission of Summer Season applications is the 30th of May 08.
• Offers may be made to applicants participating in the Summer Season from the 1st of August 08.

In addition, the Bar Council has agreed that all Pupillage Providers should abide by a common timetable:

• No offers can be made in the period of the 1st of May to 31st of July.
• No offers can be made before the 31st of July in an applicant's penultimate undergraduate year.
• All offers must remain open for at least 14 days.

Applications for mini-pupillages

Chambers encourages students to come for mini pupillages of two days There is a limited number of such pupillage available. Priority is given to those attending the Bar Vocational course, undertaking the CPE course, or in their final year of university. Applications for mini pupillage should be made to Ben Newham.
