The barristers at 8 New Square are supported by a team of 7 clerks and practice managers who are responsible for the administration of our practice. They are all well informed about the nature of the work undertaken within chambers and will be delighted to offer advice as to the most suitable barrister for particular cases. Our clerks are able to give details of fee levels for all members of chambers and have considerable experience of providing costs schedules.

John Call has been our senior clerk for over 30 years. He has considerable knowledge of practice within our core fields of intellectual property and media and entertainment. John has overall responsibility for all members' practices and is equally well able to advise clients on the skills of QCs and junior barristers. He has been a member of the pupillage committee since its inception and maintains our web site on a regular basis. He is a member of the Legal Practice Managers Association (LPMA). John's interests include flying, cycling, ten pin bowling, gardening and watching Arsenal. |

John is assisted by Tony Liddon, the deputy senior clerk, who has also been with chambers over 30 years. Tony has a detailed understanding of the nature of our practice and knowledge of Court procedures. Tony usually carries the chambers mobile and is available to assist clients with urgent out of hours business and enquiries. Tony's interests include travelling and socialising. |

Nick Wise is a practice manager within chambers having joined from Devereux Chambers in 1999. Nick handles all areas of practice management, including accepting work and advising on suitability of Counsel. Nick enjoys organising the social activities of chambers including cricket matches and informal drinks. Nick's previous experience has included working in Chancery Chambers and a Common law set specialising in employment and commercial law. Nick's interests are golf and history. |

Martin Williams joined chambers as a practice manager in January 1999. Martin was previously a clerk at 3-4 South Square, the specialist insolvency set. Martin has special responsibility for the junior members of chambers, although as with all our support team he is well informed on the practices of the senior barristers. Martin has good IT skills and has excellent links with the various courts. Martin's interests are sports (watching and participating) and reading (fiction and Roman history). |

Chris Paterson joined chambers as an assistant practice manager in January 2006. Chris oversees the junior clerks and supports both the practice managers and the senior clerks with general clerking duties. Chris also manages the chambers library. His interests are golf, live music and travel. |

Ben Newham assists the main clerks in general chambers work, he is also responsible for website maintenance and IT administration. He graduated from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth with a BA in Geography in June 2006. Ben joined chambers again in 2006 after working here in his Gap Year. Ben's interests include music, motoring, IT and travel. |
